A Festival of Democracy for Young People

The Javaad Alipoor Company is inviting schools and youth groups (aged 15-18 years) to join an exciting new theatre project ON TYRANNY. 

Exploring themes of power, freedom, truth - we will bring together 5 internationally award-winning playwrights from countries on the frontlines of democratic change to create new short plays. Participating youths will have the opportunity to stage these plays through workshops with professional theatre-makers. Over a 3 month period, they will creatively respond to global issues through theatre, learn how to translate their ideas into scripts and live performance, and also develop performance skills.

The programme will culminate in live performances to a public audience as part of a new festival of work in early 2027, at a major central Manchester theatre. This is a valuable opportunity for schools to be part of an ambitious international project that connects art with global issues.
