What is a Muslim?
A digital project in partnership with Grand Junction
Show info
What is a Muslim? is a digital work that began as a creative collaboration with Grand Junction in 2020. A participatory project that explores Muslim identity and political geography with a group of young men, aged 20 to 38, of Muslim heritage living in Paddington, London.
Working with graphic artist and calligrapher Rawan ul-Haq, Javaad Alipoor develops this project into a digital presentation, inspired by Shahab Ahmed’s book, What Is Islam?.
What is a Muslim? aims to excavate the complex and often contradictory identity for Muslims in the UK today.
